Welcome — make yourself at home

Yayo & Bita's little casita

Colibrí Cottage is Yayo and Bita's casita — that's what our grandchildren call us, and we wouldn't have it any other way. This little home is where we come to be with our beautiful island family, and God willing, where we'll one day retire.

God is so amazing. We get to call this place ours, and we are truly happy to share our little piece of paradise with you.

Colibrí survived Hurricane Dorian, and a couple of years ago we were blessed to acquire her and begin bringing her back to life — pouring our hearts into every repair, every coat of paint, every small detail.

— With love, Yayo & Bita

Yayo and Bita at Colibrí Cottage
Colibrí has been loved for nearly 60 years. The name means hummingbird — we simply changed the spelling to Spanish, because, well… she needed a little bit of us too. We are honored to be her caretakers, and to breathe new life into her walls so she can keep giving love for many more years to come.

We're not an Airbnb — just real people who genuinely care. To stay at Colibrí, reach out to our family directly. 💙

Cozy & intentional

The Cottage

Small, sweet, and full of love. Here's how Colibrí welcomes you.

One cozy bathroom

Compact but mighty — efficient, and full of island charm.

Kitchen & comforts

Everything you need to keep meals simple, island style. AC & Wi-Fi included.

Steps from the sea

The harbour and the Atlantic beach are both a short, beautiful walk away.

🛠️ She's still very much a work in progress — some painting is yet to be finished and a few repairs are underway. We ask for your patience and grace as we make her everything she deserves to be. That's simply part of her story, and ours.

Man-O-War Cay

One of the Bahamas' best-kept secrets

A small, peaceful island where neighbors know each other by name. Roughly 2½ miles long and, in places, barely 100 meters wide — the boat-building capital of the Bahamas.

Small island, big soul

Man-O-War runs on two things: saltwater and faith. The community is close-knit, deeply faithful, and proudly easygoing. Sundays are quiet. Visitors are warmly welcomed — just bring an easygoing spirit and respect for the local way of life.

Maya's guides to Colibrí

Two lovingly written guides — one to welcome you home, one to help you arrive.

Guide One

Welcome to Colibrí

Your home away from home — the bedroom, the Murphy bed, the bathroom, island living, and a heartfelt note from your hosts.

Guide Two

Man-O-War Arrival

From the airline to the ferry to your front door — plus things to do, where to eat, and the island's gentle way of life.

"Island living asks you to slow down, to adjust, to let go of ordinary expectations — and in return, it gives you something no ordinary place ever could: water so clear it barely seems real, a stillness that fills your soul, and the quiet reminder that the best things in life were never meant to be rushed." — Life at Colibrí
